Ericsson launches new Massive MIMO and RAN Compute solutions

Ericsson is launching a range of Massive MIMO and RAN Compute solutions to help accelerate 5G mid-band rollouts.

Three new radios are being added to Ericsson’s Massive MIMO portfolio in addition to six RAN Compute products.

Former BT exec Katherine Ainley is Ericsson’s new UK and Ireland CEO

Ericsson has announced the appointment of former senior BT executive Katherine Ainley as the company’s new UK and Ireland CEO.

Ainley is joining Ericsson from BT and comes as the company ramps up its 5G strategy. She will succeed John Griffin who is returning to the role of country manager of Ericsson Ireland.

Ericsson CEO continues lobbying Swedish gov to overturn Huawei ban

Ericsson CEO Börje Ekholm is continuing to lobby the Swedish government to overturn a ban of Huawei’s equipment.

Ekholm has been vocal in opposing the ban since it was announced in October last year.

Dagens Nyheter reports Ekholm has sent a series of phone messages to Foreign Trade Minister Anna Hallberg calling for her to review the ban order by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS).

Ericsson says its 5G rollout will create 800 British jobs by 2022

During a time when unemployment figures are at record highs, it’s heartening to hear Ericsson’s job creation expectations.

Swedish telecoms vendor Ericsson predicts that its 5G rollout will create an additional 800 jobs in the UK over the next couple of years.

Ericsson, Qualcomm: 5G will deliver £14.8B growth across three industries

A report commissioned by Ericsson and Qualcomm suggests 5G will deliver almost £15 billion in economic growth across three key industries.

Dutch operator KPN has opted to use Ericsson’s standalone 5G core tech to replace Huawei in its network.

Ericsson deploys 25,000 base stations in Russia to support Tele2’s 5G rollout

Ericsson has supported Tele2's 5G rollout by deploying 25,000 base stations across Russia.

During MWC 2019, when in-person events were less of a rarity, Ericsson and Tele2 reached a five-year network modernisation deal.
