Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou wants documents unredacted to prove she was ‘tricked’

Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou is calling for classified documents to be unredacted to prove there was a plot between Canadian authorities and the FBI to “trick” her.

The classified documents have already been released in a heavily redacted format. During a videoconference, Meng’s lawyers demanded the publication of the complete versions which had been redacted before and after her arrest.

All three of Canada’s major carriers shun Huawei’s 5G equipment

Canada’s major carriers have shunned Huawei’s 5G equipment in favour of Western alternatives.

Bell Mobility confirmed on Tuesday that it will use Ericsson’s telecoms gear for its 5G network. The carrier also said back in February that it will use equipment from Finnish rival Nokia.

The other two major Canadian carriers, Telus Mobility and Rogers Wireless, have also opted to avoid Huawei’s 5G equipment.

Huawei CFO steps closer to US extradition as court rules ‘double criminality’ requirement met

Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou was dealt a blow on Wednesday as a Canadian court ruled to proceed with a US extradition case.

Ms Meng is accused by the US of using Huawei subsidiaries to violate sanctions against Iran. Canadian authorities detained her at Vancouver International Airport on December 1st, 2018.
