T-Mobile launches 5G network slicing beta

T-Mobile has announced the launch of its 5G network slicing beta for developers.

The beta will initially enable developers to supercharge video calling applications by providing optimised network conditions, consistent uplink and downlink speeds, lower latency, and increased reliability, all through T-Mobile's nationwide 5G SA (Standalone) network.

T-Mobile suffers another large data breach

Tens of millions of T-Mobile customers have had their details stolen in the operator’s latest data breach.

T-Mobile says it first identified malicious activity on 5 January 2023 and contained it within a day. However, the operator believes the hackers have been stealing data since 25 November 2022.

T-Mobile is reportedly considering an acquisition of Mint Mobile.

Mint is a budget MVNO that’s backed by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds. In 2021, the New York Post reported that Reynolds has around 20 to 25 percent stake in Mint.

At the time, Mint was looking to be acquired for $600 to $800 million. Altice USA was said to be the most interested buyer but no deal was formally closed.

Hacker calls T-Mobile’s security ‘awful’ after stealing 54M customers’ data

A hacker who stole the data of 54 million T-Mobile customers has called the carrier’s security “awful”.

John Binns, a 21-year-old American who now lives in Turkey, claimed responsibility for the hack on Thursday to the Wall Street Journal.
